Request to rename this page to 'List of Anglo-Mysore Wars'
[edit]I seem to have incorrectly created a new page with the requested title. Since each war is documented seperately, it makes sense to rename this page instead. As well, this allows linking to the Template:Anglo-Mysore Wars page from each individual war.

Anglo-Mysore Wars → Anglo-Mysore wars – Sources use lowercase wars about half the time, so per MOS:CAPS we should use lowercase wars, too. Dicklyon (talk) 05:59, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: Per MOS:MILITARY, War(s) is capitalized if it is so in sources. A quick look through sources says that Wars is capitalized in this case. Another similar example to look at is Anglo-Maratha Wars, where every article has it capitalized as well. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 14:00, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- The criterion in MOS:CAPS is "consistently capitalized in independent reliable sources". Book stats show nearly half lowercase, so nowhere close to consistently capitalized. A web search will show something very different, due to web style and Wikipedia influence. Also the singular will be much more often capitalized; the plural term that describes the group is not a proper name. Dicklyon (talk) 19:18, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon The same Book stats show that capital is more common. Using general search (understand that it might be influenced, but at the end is a common name) shows no place that uses a lowercase. Also, the sources mentioned in the current article, atleast titles of them, include a capital Wars. Again emphasizing my point of similar wars also using a capital letter, even for plural terms. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 02:51, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- The criterion is not "more common", but "consistently capitalized". Dicklyon (talk) 02:55, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Neither is consistently capitalized though; sources seem to be using both. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 03:23, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Exactly. Dicklyon (talk) 05:06, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

- Book titles are in title case. We use sentence case for article titles.Dicklyon (talk) 02:55, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS kinds of arguments are not good reasons to not fix something. Dicklyon (talk) 02:55, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

- Support, will go with Dicklyon on this one. The four individual wars are properly uppercased (see this example) but in this title 'wars' is an inclusive summary of the four wars that sources are split 50-50 on, falling too low of the requirement on Wikipedia. - Support—must be consistently capped. Tony (talk) 04:34, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
