Meloodia picture
[edit]Hello, what's the source for Image:Meloodia.jpg? If it's taken from Tallink's website it should be okay to use here by fairuse under United States copyright law. If it's from a private collection you need to ask for permission to use it on Wikipedia under GFDL. It's a good idea to state source and license when uploading an image. I saw you did some nice editing on Tallink, keep up the good work! bbx 16:17, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
- Oh .. I can't verify the sources of the picture to be honest, I saved it somewhere at some point, no idea from where though. I'll replace it with one of which I can verify the source (took this one as it is better than anything I took myself) as "OK" ChiLlBeserker 17:05, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
- It's great if you can upload a picture you have taken yourself, then you can provide it with a free license which fits Wikipedia. By the way, are you planning on making articles about other ships? bbx 01:18, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
- If I get to it :D .. Ships I have some access to information to or know a bit about at least. Tallink is very open about the history of their ships, so some more Tallink ships shouldn't be a problem. I would like to write information on other lines in the region too, but I have not had time to look into those yet. I'll have to look through my pictures and see which ships I can find pictures of for that matter. ChiLlBeserker 09:32, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
- I hope you will get to it :) When i write about ships my best source is the Swedish site Fakta om fartyg, unfortunatly its not availiable in English. bbx 19:44, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks - I can read Scandinavian languages well enough (am currently in contact with a lot of Norwegian, which has been getting easier and easier for me to understand. As soon as I got some of the prepositions and pronouns, knowing German started being a very great help) that it won't be completely useless to me. I've been using ferry-site.dk for a lot of the raw numbers, though most of the facts are on the Tallink page too. Definitely helps to keep an overview though. Will look into that site though if it has helpful stuff too whenever I get to writing more articles :) (planning to work on anything on the Helsinki-Tallinn line at least, though not sure where I will start next yet.) Image copyright problem with Image:Fantaasia.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Fantaasia.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. --cohesion★talk 22:51, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Keyboard Layout Estonian.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Keyboard Layout Estonian.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 19:34, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Edited Wien Nordbahnhof
[edit]I followed a link in the German-to-English Translation Needed - Vienna Project to your article "requiring proofreading" on the Nordbahnhof. I speak German (see profile) and my mother, Susi Lanner was from Vienna. I've been there briefly a couple of times myself.
I changed a key date (see Page History) in the article, and re-translated a few words without reference to the German original, so would you mind vetting the result? If you approve of the result (or your further edit of it), would you adjust the article's status in the list where I found it?
If you know of other important material that you think might benefit from the kind of treatment I gave your article, do feel free to suggest. Otherwise, I'll browse the "translation needed" lists and perhaps undertake a translation myself eventually (I have G>E translation experience).

Non-free use disputed for Image:Tallink.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Tallink.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:25, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of John Gudenus
[edit]I have nominated John Gudenus, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Gudenus. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello ChiLlBeserker! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 44 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. I see you are listed as a member of a WikiProject of a Baltic state. I was wondering if anybody who actively works on Estonian, Lithuanian or Latvian articles, would be interested in launching your own Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic), based on the Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) and Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea would be to try to bring about 1000 article improvements and creations on this region as an enjoyable challenge and potentially things like National Contests with prizes. If you'd be interested and think it's something you might regularly contribute to, comment and sign up at Talk:Baltic states. If there is interest we can move this to a project somewhere and set something up, thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:46, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
